how can i build a wedding photography portfolio?

I am looking to build a portfolio of wedding images but I don't know where/how to do this! I am not really at the stage where I can charge as a professional and have run out of friends and family getting married, I also can not afford to hire models. Please help.

Are you a churchgoer your self? If so, why not ask your clergyman/woman for a list of upcoming weddings at your home congregation? Then approach the bride and state your case?
